Geneva A. (Grazis) Gatautis, 81, of 504 Twitchell St., died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 in St. Vincent's Hospital-Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness. Born in Athol on Feb. 18, 1922, a daughter of John and Margaret (Petrowsky) Grazis, she grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1939. She was married to Bernie Gatautis on Sept. 2, 1950. He died on Feb. 17, 1993. After high school she worked at the former Athol Webster Sole Co. for many years. She had also worked at the former Giant Store, and the former Bill's Market, all of Athol. A member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, she belonged to the St. Francis Women's Guild and the Athol Golden Agers Club. Devoted to her church, she also enjoyed cooking as well as being a talented seamstess. Survivors include her daughters, Gail Gatautis of Amarillo, Texas, Kathy Urenda and her husband Robert of Hurst, Texas, and Jean Churchill and her husband Shaun of Meuthen; three grandchildren, Bobby Urenda, Colby Churchill and Allison Churchill; and a brother, Robert Grazi of Athol. She was predeceased by a sister, Diana Grazi on Feb. 5, 1999. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi, 105 Main St., Athol, at Noon. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 11 from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
