ATHOL - Adelle V. (Gilgut) Duval, 93 of 44 Upland St., Athol, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, in the Heart of Florida Hospital, Haines City, FL.
She was born in Athol, on November 22, 1913, the daughter of the late John and the late Tofilia (Dudis) Gilgut.
Mrs. Duval retired in 1980 as a Supervisor of Medical Records at Athol Memorial Hospital after fourteen years of employment. She was formerly employed at New England Telephone as an operator and also at the former Union Twist Drill Compand as office clerk.
She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 102 of Athol, a member of the Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Adelle enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, tatting, sewing and gardening. She taught pineneedle basketry when spending winters in Florida. At the age of 90 she won a trophy named in her honor for having the highest score in a suffleboard tounament.
She leaves one daughter, Linda Madsen and her husband David of Southhampton, MA; two sons, John P. Duval and his wife Ellen of Townsend, MA, James W. Duval and his wife Linda of Colorado; one brother, Thomas J. Gilgut of Athol; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Wilfred J. Duval, Jr. who died in 1996, and by two brothers, John P. Gilgut and Dr. Constantine J. Gilgut.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 8, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol, MA.
