Agatha H. (Kudzma) Sukols

  ATHOL - Agatha H. (Kudzma) Sukols, 100, a former resident of the Applewood Home for Elders in Athol, died on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol where she had resided since February of 2011.     Agatha was born in Barre on December 11, 1910, the daughter of the late William and the late Anna (Dubinikas) Kudzma. She was raised in Barre and moved to Athol in 1928. Many years ago, she worked for the former Barre Wool in Barre. During the Depression, Agatha worked for the former N. D. Cass Company and the former Athol Comb Shop. More recently, Mrs. Sukols worked in the housekeeping department of Athol Memorial Hospital for fifteen years until her retirement in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the church’s Women's Guild.     She leaves two daughters, Agatha H. Salkaus of Athol, Janet A. Pratt of Athol; one son, John W. Sukols and his wife Carolyn of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Deborah Reicker, Stephen Salkaus, Cmdr. Nathan Sukols, Rachael Coolidge, Zachery Pratt, Stacey Alexander, Sean Alexander; nine great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.     She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Sukols, on February 16, 1963; and by her sisters, Nellie Miknaitis, Mary Zamaitis and Anna Kasputis.     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.     A calling hour will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 MAIN STREET, Athol.   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice. $(document).ready(function(){ });
