Gardner- Alan S. Fitzgerald, 78, of 229 Brookside Drive, died Friday, August 17, 2018 at home.
He was born in Ayer on April 11, 1940, son of the late Henry S. and Delia (Labbe) Fitzgerald.
Alan was a stone mason by trade, and was the owner of Fitzgerald & Day Inc. in Gardner. He enjoyed racing cars and sport fishing in Costa Rica and the Florida Keys.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Barbara L. (Day) Fitzgerald; one daughter: Tammy Fitzgerald of Athol; one grandson: Damien A. Fitzgerald of Leominster, who he raised as a son; three step daughters: Samalantha Henchey of Westminster, Kim Riccuitti of Ashburnham, Karen Jodrey of Shirley, Maine; 2 brothers: Richard of Harvard, James of Gardner: one sister, Mary Rzasa of Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Alan was predeceased by his son, Daniel P. Fitzgerald in 2004.
At the family's request, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster.
