ATHOL – Albert F. “Bert” Euvrard went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 10, 2017. He was born December 10, 1931, and was the son of the late Albert and Lena Euvrard.
He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1950. He joined the Army during the Korean Conflict serving from 1952 until 1954. When he came home he purchased the York Bowling Alleys and operated them until a fire destroyed everything. He began building houses in Westford and continued working for many years as a contractor in the local area and in Westford, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed building things and completed a lot of projects in his own home. He built drawers and closets in the walls and added brick walls. Bert liked helping others with their projects as well. He liked to garden and was always trying to grow vegetables that were bigger than his brothers. Bert was a perfectionist in everything he did. He enjoyed mushroom hunting. He found a “hen of the woods” and babied it along until he had a 35 pound mushroom. He liked walking in the Quabbin to relax, and enjoyed long drives to look at old houses, and especially enjoyed spending weekends at the ocean with his wife Dolly and their children. He has a twin brother, Richard, and Bert and Dick had a running joke of who was the better looking twin. We’ll never know.
Bert leaves his wife Sandra “Dolly’ Euvrard of Athol, seven children, Phillipe Euvrard and his wife Eileen of Florida, Edmond Euvrard, Paul Euvrard and his wife Rhonda, Erik Euvrard and his wife Sharon, Bernadette Merron and her husband Michael all of Athol, Antoinette Euvrard of Florida, and Jacqueline Marble and her companion Jerry of Sterling, one step son, Dan Wesson of Foxboro. He also has four brothers, Emile Euvrard and his companion Karen, twin brother Richard Euvrard and his wife Marion, Robert Euvrard and his wife Marilyn, and Peter Euvrard and his wife Deanna all of Athol, four sisters, Evelyn Kimbro and her husband Rex of Springfield, VA, Blanche Sheffield of Athol, Yvonne Bassett and her husband Paul of Winchendon and Peggy Lee Mullen and her companion Gary of Hardwick, and nine grandchildren, Nathan, Christian, Stephanie, Mary, Dorcia, Kyle, Emilie, Jullian, Angela, and nine great grandchildren, Logan, Benjamin, Elisabeth, twins: Olivia and Marley, Kaitlyn, Sophia, Allie and Haley.
He is predeceased by his first wife and the mother of six of his children, Elisabeth Euvrard, two brothers, Franklin and Leon and step daughter, Sheree Wesson.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the North Congregational Church, 60 Elm Street, New Salem, MA 01355.
