ATHOL- Albert J. Alliott, 86, of 226 Chestnut Street, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 in Athol Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Bertha M. (Duguay) Alliott; a son, Clifford "Gene" Alliott and his wife Lana of Port Orange, Florida; a daughter Patricia Alliott of Athol; a brother, Francis Alliott of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Lena Euvrard of Athol, Eva Champagne of Quebec City, Quebec, and Blanche Alliott of Gardner; one granddaughter, Lisa Green and her husband John of Alaska; and 2 great-grandchildren, Felecia Green and Denton Green; and nieces and nephews.
He was born in Athol, March 3, 1915, a son of George and Erminie (Landry) Alliott, and had lived in Montreal, Canada for a short time before returning to Athol. He had lived here for 68 years. He attended Athol and Montreal schools.
Mr. Alliott worked in the inspection department at the L. S. Starrett Company, retiring in 1980. He previously worked at the Athol Shoe Company. He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church where he served as a collector for many years. He enjoyed reading, swimming, bike riding, and family gatherings. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, outside work and the martial arts.
The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Building Fund of Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, 01331; or to Athol Memorial Hospital, 2033 Main Street, Athol, 01331.
