LEOMINSTER - Albert J. Pavilaitis, 81, Of Leominster, passed away on Sunday March 9, 2014 in the Golden Living Center following a short illness. Albert was born in Pennsylvania on March 23, 1932, he son of the late Albert and Anna (Schmidt) Pavilaitis. Albert attended St. Mary’s High School in PA and then entered the US Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He served during the Korean War Conflict where he earned the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He went on to work as an inside salesman for Advanced Bearing, Fair Grieve Bearing and eastern Bearing, retiring in 1997. Albert was known to many as an avid sports memorabilia collector, he enjoyed the Pittsburg Pirates and the Pittsburg Steelers. He enjoyed going to flea markets, and enjoyed country music, especially Johnny Cash. He was a former member of the Leominster Franco American Club, and a Leominster Little League coach and officer. Albrt leaves behind his wife of 59 years; Lorraine (Tessier) Pavilaitis of Leominster, one son; Michael Pavilaitis and his wife Diane of Leominster, one daughter; Susan Hamel and her husband Stephen of Leominster, one daughter-in-law Lisa Pavilaitis of NY, one son-in-law Glenn Daigle of VA, three sisters; Teresa Grimms of FL, Frances Veltum Mego of PA, and Marion Kautzman of PA, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son; David Pavilaitis (2006), and one daughter; Lori Daigle (1995). Calling hours will be held at the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St Leominster on Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 10:00am in Holy Family of Nazareth Church 750 Union St Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster.
