Alberta E. (Sarah) McAdams
ATHOL-Alberta E. "Allie" (Sarah) McAdams, formerly of Athol, died peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at the Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield.
Born and raised in Milford, MA, December 14, 1911, a daughter of James and Eliza Jane (Dunston) Sarah, she was the youngest of nine children. Her three brothers and five sisters predeceased her. She was married in 1927 to Charles E. McAdams, Sr., and they were married for 66 years until his passing in 1994. They moved to Athol in 1932 with their two children and resided there for 52 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Mrs. McAdams enjoyed card games, reading and sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress and made fashionable clothing for female members of her family. But above all, she loved and cared for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always ready to lend a helping hand.
She leaves a son, Charles E. McAdams, Jr. and his wife Judith of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Alberta "Petie" McAdams Tolin of Greenfield; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church Street, Hopkinton, MA. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hopkinton.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either the Activities Fund at Buckley HealthCare Facility, 95 Laurel Street, Greenfield, MA 01301, or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 20 Walnut Street, Suite 318, Wellesley Hills, MA, 02481.
