ATHOL - Aldia J. Bushey, 91 of 95 Marshall Street, Athol, died Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner, MA.
She was born in Waltham, MA, on August 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Edward and the late Harriett (Dodge) Cunniffe.
Aldia was a graduate of Waltham High School and Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. She worked as a secretary and receptionist at the Waltham Watch Company. During World War II she was a certified Red Cross Nurses Aide and ambulance driver for Waltham hospital Civil Defense.
She was a former member of the Petersham Country Club, a charter member of the Petersham Curling Club, Ellinwood Country Club for twenty-five years, Ellinwood Bowling Team, 50 Year Sewing Club and the Athol Women's Club. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
She leaves one daughter: Constance J. Sonn of Athol; two sons: Esmonde J. Bushey, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Orange, Charles E. Bushey and his wife Marie of Westminster; one sister: Harriett Lally of Waltham; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Esmonde J. Bushey who died in 1999; her sisters: Joan Lally, Winifred Stoffel, Auretta Keane, Clare Burke; and her brothers: Edward Cunniffe and Charles Cunniffe.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Horrigan Ave. entrance, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
