ATHOL - Aldona M. (Grigalunas) Girardi, 83 of 41 Ella Street, Athol, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Athol, on July 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Louis and the late Mary (Balchunas) Grigalunas. She graduated from Athol High School in 1939 and attended the Burdette School of Business for two years.
Mrs. Girardi was employed at the Orange-Athol Industrial Development District for thirteen years retiring in 1980.
She was a life-long resident of Athol. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the American Lithuanian Naturalization Club. She enjoyed oil painting and visiting with friends and family.
She leaves three daughters, Margo Bosworth and her husband Earl Gibson of Virginia Beach, VA, Andrea Hinckley and her husband Chris of Phillipston, Maryann Girardi and her husband Charles Henry of Andover; one sister, Marion Rapsis of Chamblee, GA; two grandchildren, Richard Bosworth, Jr. and his wife Kerry of Maryland, Tracielyn Proud and her husband Glenn of Virginia Beach, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard J. Girardi who died in 1988.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 24, 2006, at 11:00 am in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 23, 2006, from 5 - 8 p.m. and Friday, March 24, 2006, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the House of Peace and Education 20 Barthel Ave. , Gardner, MA 01440.
