GARDNER - Alexander Kuropatkin, 92, formerly of 157 Woodland Ave., Gardner, died on April 11, 2011 at the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner.
He was born in Gardner, on November 10, 1918, the son of the late Ephram and the late Anastasia (Amelian) Kuropatkin.
Mr. Kuropatkin lived all of his life in Gardner and attended local schools. He served during World War II in the Navy as Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class, and served later in the Reserves. He worked as an electrician at Harrington Richardson in Gardner before his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post # 905, and a former member of American Legion Post # 129. He enjoyed fishing, horse races, bowling, dog track, and was an overall sports enthuasiast.
He leaves two daughters, Donna Crociata and her husband Joseph of Westwood, NJ, Linda Kuropatkin and her husband Donald LaPrise of Gardner; a granddaughter, Alyx LaPrise of Athol; his long-time companion, Irene Fournier of Gardner; also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 30 years, Helen (Sechovich) Kuropatkin, who died on August 4, 1973; also by his brother, John Kuropatkin, and by two sisters, Stazy Cosenza, and Helen Butler.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Russian Brotherhood Cemetery in Westford.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Kuropatkin's memory to the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund, 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, MA 01440.
