GARDNER - Alexandra Von Leigh, 79, of 390 Temple Street, Gardner, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, in Worcester. Alexandra was an only child, born to Dorothy Sandstrom and John Beechlyn in Worcester on January 16, 1932. She worked many years as a travel agent. Later she worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist at J.A.M. Plastics in Leominster and Birchwood Nursing Home in Fitchburg. More recently, she worked part-time as a school van monitor for Fred's Bus Company in Winchendon. Alexandra had a great love for all animals, nature and her family. She shared her favorite phrase often: "Knowledge is power," and enjoyed researching and indulging in many subjects that expanded the mind, including the paranormal. She loved the arts, dancing and singing. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and watching the cooking channel. She always put other people's needs ahead of her own. She leaves behind her significant other of twenty-eight years, Ronald LeBlanc of Gardner; three daughters, Edmunda Vestey Richards of Virginia, Joscelyn Von Leigh and her partner Sheila Rose of Compton, NH, Bronwyn Von Leigh of Wells, Maine; five grandchildren, Kristina Chambers, Cassandra Lynn Barrieault, Alexandra Bronwyn Von Leigh, Nathaniel James St. Jean, Edmunda Vestey; four great grandchildren, Andrew Jackson Kalesinski, Natalia Elizabeth Von Leigh, Hannah Neveah Barrieault and Izzabella Ocean Barrieault. There will be a gathering of remembrance on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Gardner Animal Shelter, 95 Pleasant St., Room 29, Gardner, MA 01440. $(document).ready(function(){ });
