CANDLER, NC - Alfred J. Arsenault, 88 of Candler, NC, formerly of Leominster, MA, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC after a period of declining health.
He was born in West St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, on December 26, 1921, the son of the late Albert G and the late Exilda (Maillet) Arsenault.
He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 with Company C 304th Engineer Battalion, 79th Infantry Division in the European Theater during WWII. He was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Chandler, NC. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife: Pauline (Legros) Arsenault; three sons: Paul Arsenault and his wife Debra of Perrysburg, OH, Francis Arsenault of Leominster, Dennis Arsenault and his wife Jacqueline of Leominster; four daughters: Janice Harriot and her husband Raymond of Laurel, MD, Diane LeBlanc and her husband J. Donald of Leominster, Susan Barrett and her husband Roland of Ashby, Brenda Madonia of Elgin, SC; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six sisters: Bertha Beaureguard of Newton, Marie Sequin of Leominster, Katherine Trump of Dover, NH, Doris Bergeron and her husband Donald of Fort Pierce, FL, Julia Frawley and her husband Paul of Nashua, NH, Carol Lanza and her husband Carl of Nashua, NH and Sarasota, FL; five brothers: Leo Martin Arsenault of Port St. Luce, FL, Donald Arsenault and his wife Janet of Port St. Luce, FL, Joseph Arsenault and his wife Anna of Leominster, Robert Arsenault of Vacaville, CA, Edward Arsenault and his wife Margaret of Stow; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Juliette, a granddaughter Kaitlyn Arsenault and a brother Henry Arsenault.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11:00 am in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
