Alice R. (Emmett) Brockney

Alice R. Brockney Athol – Alice R. (Emmett) Brockney, 68, of 534 Pinedale Ave., died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the arms of her husband Jack at their home.      Alice was born in Montague, Massachusetts, May 31, 1943, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Newell) Emmett.  She grew up in Athol where she has lived most of her life, graduating from Athol High School.      Alice worked for the former Victory Supermarket in Athol for many years and also was an Avon representative.  She and her family enjoyed camping throughout New England for many years, loved riding with her husband in the Athol Fire Departments “seagrave” fire engine in many parades, bowling candle pin, crocheting and all types of needle work, but most especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.      She leaves her husband of 41 years, John A. “Jack” Brockney; a daughter, Jacqueline Brockney of Athol; a step-daughter, Tammy Maronie of NY; a step-son, Gordon Brockney of FL; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Shakiya, Timmy, Amanda, Alan, John and Crystal and many great grandchildren. She also leaves many close family members in Saratoga, NY.  She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Brockney and a granddaughter, Michelle Damon.      A private graveside service will be held at Tully Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests those wishing to make a contribution in Alice’s memory make it to: Salvation army-Athol Corps, 107 Ridge Ave., Athol, MA 01331, Breast Cancer, c/o American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-9376 or the March of Dimes, MA Chapter, 112 Turnpike Rd., Suite 102, Westborough, MA  01581.        Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is in charge of arrangements.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
