Allan R. DeLisle

ORANGE- Allan R. DeLisle, 69, of Orange and Oxford, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in the St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gardner on May 31, 1939, the son of the late Roger D. and the late Esther L. (Okerman) DeLisle. Mr. DeLisle grew up in Athol and attended local schools, graduating from Athol High School with the class of 1957. He studied mechanical engineering at the Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. Upon his graduation, he served an apprenticeship as a toolmaker for the L. S. Starrett Tool Company in Athol. Mr. DeLisle worked as a design engineer for many years. He had a passion for singing, and was a member of several singing groups including the Salisbury Singers in Worcester, the Barn Stormers. He was also a member and president of The Singing Men of Athol. Mr. DeLisle enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. He was a farmer in Winchendon in the 1960s. He enjoyed cooking, carpentry, and reading. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed sitting on his deck overlooking Packard Heights Pond. He leaves his loving wife and soul mate, Sandra J. (Colecchi) DeLisle of Orange and Oxford; two sons, Michael A. DeLisle of Lansing, Michigan; AJ R. DeLisle of Orange and Oxford; one daughter, Lori A. (DeLisle) Gates and her husband Ronald of Warwick; one brother, Stephen P. DeLisle and his wife Annette of North Carolina; one sister, Constance G. Pollock and her husband Robert of Orange; three grandchildren, Allen M. DeLisle, Amber M. DeLisle, both of Lansing, Michigan, Amanda B. Patten of Warwick; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. There are no calling hours.
