ORANGE – Allen R. “Sam” Drury, 77 of Orange, formerly of Athol, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Bay State Medical Center, Springfield.
He was born on July 21, 1941 in Winchendon to the late Leroy Drury and the late Evelyn (Jones) Drury. He grew up in Templeton and attended Templeton schools.
Sam worked for Eastern Furniture in Athol, Lilly Chemical in Gardner and most recently the L. S. Starrett Toll Company in Athol. He also worked at the Candlelight in Templeton. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball. He loved to listen to the Boston Red Sox on the radio and playing cards.
Sam is survived by his wife of 49 years: Charlene M. (Gifford) Drury of Orange; two sons: Robert Drury of Templeton and his fiancé Angelica DeLosRios, Michael Drury of Gardner and his fiancé Christine Batson; one granddaughter: Chelsea Drury and her fiance’ Joseph P. Karam; one great grandson: Joseph (Drury) Karam.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
