Alonzo (Al) Z. Gaudet, 76, of Leominster, died on January 30, 2018. Born in St. Damien, NB, Canada, on July 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Arthur and Marie Rose (Cormier) Gaudet.
Alonzo loved his family and friends, golf, and his Canadian heritage. Possessing a great memory, he was the one who people called to discuss family history. A prolific and talented artist, Alonzo could often be found sitting and drawing scenes from his childhood. He will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, friendly personality, and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvette (LeBlanc); his children, Brenda of Dover, NH, and son Brian and daughter-in-law Darlene, of Leominster. He is also survived by two sisters, Bernise Cormier (Jules) of Leominster, and Hermine “Marie” Hodge (Ronny) of Sandy Ridge, NC, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leo (Francine) Gaudet, and Normand Gaudet, both of Leominster.
At his request, there are no calling hours. After cremation, a graveside prayer service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, donors@stjude.org.
