Amelia M. Greene

ATHOL - Amelia M. (Lapinskas) Greene, 86 of 33 Bearsden Road, Athol, died Friday, March 17, 2006, in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner. She was born in Cambridge, MA, on January 1, 1920, the daughter of the late Ralph and the late Michaelina (Lauchen) Lapinskas. She moved to Athol in 1926, she attended schools in South Royalston and graduated from Templeton High School in 1938. Mrs. Greene worked at a number of local factories; she was employed at the L.S. Starrett Company for many years and retired from there in 1982. She previously worked at the former Sears Store in Athol for several years. Mrs. Greene was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church. She was a member of the Central Massachusetts Post Card Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and taking walks. She leaves two daughters, Regina M. Greene of Athol, Virginia A. Swan of Athol; one son, J. R. Greene of Athol; three sisters, Veronica Wandell of Maine, Ann Stockman of Bristol, CT, Mary Santoro of Wolcott, CT; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years John P. Greene who died in 1983, by a sister, Michaelina Marsh of Gardner, and by three brothers, Ralph Lapinskas, Adolph Lapinskas and Martin Lapinskas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 11:00 am at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
