Anna H. Andriliunas, 76, of Poquoson, Virginia formerly of Athol passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 following a sudden short illness.
Anna was born February 3, 1930 to the late Michael and Anna Salkaus of Athol. She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Col. Francis Andriliunas and embarked on a thirty-year journey as a military wife. As a loving mother and wonderful homemaker, she met many challenges faced during numerous military deployments throughout the years.
Settling in Poquoson 27 years ago, she enjoyed life in a small town where she could often be found in the yard and gardens at her home. She was active in the Poquoson Exchangettes. Living beside the water, she was fascinated by the changing weather events. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Redskins and the Red Sox.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edward, Albino, and Joseph Salkaus; and her sister, Helen Giradi. Her memory is cherished by her surviving husband of 54 years, Francis Andriliunas; son, Michael & wife, Pamela and their sons, Michael, Brian, and Jeff of Poquoson; daughter, Susan Rozell & husband, Lance, and their son, Thor of Fitchburg, Mass.; son, Francis & his wife, Grace, and their daughters, Mary and Madison of Poquoson; brother, Peter Salkaus & wife, Aldona of Athol; brother, Alphonse & wife, Agatha of Athol; nieces, Debbie Reicher and Elaine Salkaus; nephews, Joseph, Edward, and Stephen Salkaus; brother-in-law, Vyto Andreliunas & wife, Patricia, and their son, John, and daughters, Julie, Amy & Kristy; and a very special nephew, George "Buddy" Giradi, Jr. & wife, Judy, and their daughters, Gina & Julie.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2006, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Monday, November 6, 2006, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home 137 Main St., Athol.
