ATHOL - Anne O'Brien, 87 of Athol, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home.
She was born in Athol, on July 25, 1928, the daughter of the late William and the late Annie (Fay) O'Brien.
Anne grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. She attended St Elizabeth’s, receiving her nursing degree. She was a Registered Nurse at Athol Memorial Hospital in the Maternity Ward and Emergency Room. for over 50 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and a member of the Athol Council on Aging. She enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing in New England, walking, running, playing bridge, knitting, bowling, traveling, the ocean, and most of all spending time with family.
She leaves one brother: Robert O'Brien and his wife Joan of Orange: many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: William J. O'Brien and Bartlett O'Brien and two sisters: Ellen M. Ellinwood and Margaret Taintor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St, Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331
