Anne C. O'Brien-Desrosier

ATHOL - Anne Colwell O’Brien, 93, died on December 2, 2016 in Dedham, MA following complications from a fall. She was born December 30, 1922 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Eleanor and John W. O’Brien. Anne graduated from Athol High School and from State Teachers College at Fitchburg. She taught grade school in Portland, CT and Arlington, MA before marrying Norman W. Desrosier of Athol in 1946. Anne and her family lived primarily in West Lafayette, IN, Paris, France and Pelham Manor, NY. She later moved to Wellesley, MA where she was an employment specialist for the Elder Employment Services Program, a board member of the Postcomers Club and an avid bridge player and reader. Anne is survived by her loving children, Nancy (Thomas Kenworthy), John (Diane) Desrosier, James Desrosier and Brian Desrosier. Anne took great pride in her nine grandchildren, William (Jackie) and Anne Stevenson, Jennifer, Peter and Nicholas Desrosier, Brian and Nicole Desrosier and Owen Mountford, as well as two great grandchildren, Nolan and Jenny Stevenson. She is also survived by sister Deirdre (Mrs. Bruce Williams) and brothers Kevin (Barbara) O’Brien and Brendan (Constance) O’Brien. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, John O’Brien, her sister Mary Pat (Mrs. James Mulcare) and Norman Desrosier. Norman Desrosier is survived by sisters Evelyn (Mrs. William King) and Rita (Mrs. Warren Grimes) and brother Francis (Aileen) Desrosier. A private funeral service will be held at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol, Road, Orange. Funeral services are under the direction of Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol.
