Anthony M Picucci

Haverhill, MA - Anthony M Picucci, 92, formerly of Leominster, MA, passed away on Thursday November 7, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Leominster, the son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Lombardy) Picucci. Anthony grew up in Leominster and graduated from Cushing Academy. He attended Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA and the University of Louisiana. He entered into the United States Coast Guard on October 8, 1942 and served as a reserve active duty until November 16, 1945. During that time he earned the rating of Seaman First Class. He served aboard the LST 71 in the South Pacific during WW II as a driver and gunner. Anthony went on to work for the Federal Government at Fort Devens outfitting troops for thirty-five years. After retirement, he worked for the City of Leominster as a weigher at the transfer station. Anthony was a former member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and spending time in Naples, FL, as well as Hampton, NH. Anthony leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Mary (Melton) Picucci, four sons; Anthony “Mike” Picucci and his wife Erinn of VA, Richard Picucci and his wife Allison of Beverly, MA, Brian Picucci of CT, and Kim and her husband, three brothers; Joseph Picucci of FL, Louis Picucci and Richard Picucci, both of Leominster, MA, five sisters Rafella Picucci of Leominster, MA, Anna Coughlin of FL, Theresa Culley of Leominster, MA, Margaret Marro of Leominster, MA, and Marion Carluccio of CT, eight grandchildren; Mathew, Anna-Jane, Christopher, Zachary, Erick, James, Sophia, and Tabitha, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; Angelo “Stiff” Picucci and Carmine Picucci and one sister; Rose Carbone. Calling hours will be held from the Simard Funeral Home, 14Walker St. Leominster, MA on Wednesday November 13, 2013 from 9:00am-11:00am. A mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following in St. Cecilia’s Church 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo’s Cemetery, 360 Lancaster St. Leominster.
