April Custeau

April Custeau, a radiant beacon of love and joy, born on April 16th, 1990 in Gardner, MA, passed away on September 12th, 2023. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of the human spirit. April embodied this sentiment perfectly, touching the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.

April was a 2008 graduate of Athol High School. April was a compassionate soul who shone brightly in the lives of her family, friends, and all those who knew her. A fiercely loving mother to her son Benjamin Alan, she showered him with unwavering love and affection. April found joy in the simple pleasures of life, listening to music, and spending time with her family, friends, and her cherished pets. She had a particular fondness for dogs and cats, their companionship providing her endless comfort and joy.

April is survived by her mother Corrinna Custeau, step-father Gary Bishop, her longtime boyfriend Matthew LaBelle, son Benjamin LaBelle, sister Sarah Bates, niece and nephew Kayla and Cameron Gauthier, grandmother Claire Bishop, and her beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her father Glenn Bates, grandmother Sarah Plummer, grandfathers Thomas Custeau and Kenneth Bishop, preceded her in death. 

Calling hours for April will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023  from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Fiske Murphy and Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA 01364
Her burial will be private. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Benjamin LaBelle scholarship fund, C/O Athol Credit Union, 513 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331
