LEOMINSTER - Armande M. (Benoit) DeVarney, 88 of LaBelle, Florida and
formerly of Leominster, passed away on February 4, 2011 in Fort
Meyers, Florida.
She was born in Canada on November 2, 1922, the daughter of the late
Emile and the late Beatrice (Malo) Benoit.
Mrs. DeVarney was employed at the Foster-Grant Company in Leominster
for over twenty years.
She was a very active member of the American Legion Post #130 and VFW
Post #10100 in LaBelle, Florida for several years.
She leaves two sons, Arthur DeVarney, Jr. of Leominster, Roland
DeVarney of Orlando, FL; siblings, Henry Benoit, Alfred Benoit, Jerry
Benoit, Loretta Bevans, Raymonde Sheldon, Hortense Girouard and
Germaine Wilson; five grandchildren, Michael DeVarney, Laurie DeVarney Fulton, Dawn Spangenberg, Erin DeVarney, Sarah Ball; eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.
Armande was predeceased by her husband, Arthur DeVarney, Sr. in 1988;
also by her companion of many years, Olin Harless, in 2008; and by
four brothers, Ivan, John, Roger and Gaston "Pete" Benoit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at
9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster.
Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m.
at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker Street, Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be
made in her memory to American Cancer Society's New England Division
Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Heart
Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
