With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Arthur D. Johnson, "Opie" who left us on January 23, 2025. Born in Stafford Springs CT, on August 24, 1965, Opie was an example of loyalty and devotion throughout his life. He lived with an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. Opie spent his life in service to others, both in his career and personal life. He served in the Military in Fort Knox, KY, in 1985. He worked for the Town of Erving, as Selectman, ZBA board, and a revered Animal Control Officer, initially volunteering as a Dog Officer before being promoted. When not working or caring for others, Opie enjoyed riding his Harley with Family and Friends and recently joined SCRC riding club where he participated in numerous fundraisers. He enjoyed Poker, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, jet skiing, traveling, driving his sports cars, and watching TV. He mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially Holiday gatherings. Opie was very helpful and willing to give advice to anyone in need. He would protect and fight for you to the fullest. He was very passionate in his conversations. So, if you ran into him in the community, plan on being there a long while.
