ATHOL- Arthur A. Osborne, 87, of Athol, died Sunday, May 15, in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, after a short illness.
Mr. Osborne was born May 1, 1929, in Boston, son of the late Arthur C. and Grace M. (Kerrigan) Osborne. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at UMass Amherst for many years.
Arthur enjoyed the ocean, fishing, hunting with his brothers, and camping. He was a hardworking man.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Mabel (Vysocky) Osborne; two sons, Arthur A., Osborne, Jr. and his wife, Holly of LA, and Michael Osborne of Worcester; two daughters, Sherrie Murphy of Colrain, and Michelle Nilsen and her husband, George of NC; five grandsons, Wayne Cullen, Ryan O’Kane, Patrick, Jakob, and Eli Osborne; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Philip Osborne and his wife, Mary of Amherst, and Donald Osborne of Athol; one sister, Joyce Cromwell of Orange; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth, Eugene, and Robert Osborne.
The funeral will be held with military honors, Friday, June 3, at 10:00 AM, at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.
