Orange – Arthur F. Savage, III, 63 died Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare following an illness.
Arthur was born in Athol, Massachusetts, September 14, 1947, the son of Arthur F. and Lila (Meittien) Savage, Jr. He grew up in Athol, attending Athol schools and has lived in the Athol-Orange area all of his life.
Arthur worked for the former Duall Plastics for many years. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, loved to play softball and was a former member of the Athol-Orange Elks. Arthur especially enjoyed his large family.
He leaves his eleven children; Percy D. Savage of Sevierville, TN, Arthur F. Savage, IV of Orange, Justin P. Savage of MA, Jacob E. Savage, Jessica M. Durmaz, Gregory G. Savage and Jennifer M. Savage, all of Sevierville, TN, Krystal Morais of Clinton, Christopher Hayward-Savage of Hudson and Kristopher Morais of Clinton, and Sarah Hayward-Savage of Hudson. He also leaves his brothers and sisters; Douglas Savage of VT, Sandra Hanshaw and Bruce Savage, both of Athol, Patricia Whitney of NH, Linda Bailey of Orange, Darlene Rooney of Athol, Debbie Santiago of NV, Walter Ball of NC, and Clyde Ball of Athol; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Joseph, Aaron, Nadia, Jacob, Shea, Kerim and Avery and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William J. Savage in 1987, two brothers, Robert Savage and Gregory Ball and a sister, Ola Whaley.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. There are no formal funeral services and in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Quabbin Valley Healthcare, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
