LEOMINSTER....Aurore Bernadette (Poirier) Bilodeau 91, of 69 Hoover St Leominster died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in the Life Care Center of Leominster after an illness.
She was born July 13, 1919 in Notre Dame, New Brunswick, Canada the eldest of ten children of the late Philip Poirier and Alice (Cormier) and came to the United States settling in Leominster in 1936 at the age of sixteen.
She is survived by her two sons: Raymond Bilodeau of Worcester, and Roger Bilodeau and his wife Virginia of Leominster; her daughter: Paulette Diaz of Leominster; three sisters: Angenette Mazerolle of Shediac NB Canada, Diane Brown of Saint Antoine NB Canada and Gloria Jessulat of Shediac NB Canada; one brother: Guy Poirier and his wife Gemma of Notre Dame NB Canada; her sister in law: Elizabeth Poirier of Gardner MA.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband of (40) years: Raymond A. Bilodeau who died in 1971, her son: Ernest Bilodeau who died in 1990; by her hree sisters: Jeannine Mazerolle of Shediac, NB, Canada, Geneva Hannah of Shediac, NB, Canada and Eleanor Bachand of Leominster; three brothers: Arthur Poirier of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Alonso Poirier of Moncton, NB, Canada and John Poirier of Leominster.
Mrs Bilodeau was employed at Cluett and Peabody Co., R and M Clothing Co., Pyrotex Co. all in Leominster, Colonial Press in Clinton and Carbolon Co. in Sterling before retiring.
She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster since 1936, a member of the Franco American War Veterans Auxiliary, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cub Scout den mother, secretary of St. Cecilia's PTA, Ladies of St. Annes - St. Cecilia's Guild, Friends of Barrett Park, the Acadian Genealogy Society, East Side Neighborhood Committee, and L'Association du Monument in Rogersville Canada.
A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 3,2010 at 11am in St. Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be at a later date in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
