Barbara A. (Connor) Sluder

Barbara A. Sluder Orange – Barbara A. (Connor) Sluder, 58, of 25 Center Drive died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family following a short battle with cancer.      Barbara was born April 27, 1956 in Athol, MA, the daughter of Raymond F. and Barbara (Flagg) Connor.  She grew up in Petersham and Bradenton, Florida also living in Foscoe, NC, returning to New England in 1977 moving to Phillipston, Petersham and since 1984 has resided in Orange.      Barbara worked for Blue Ridge Industries as a supervisor while living in North Carolina and owned and operated Athol-Orange Cab Company and Athol Senior Transportation with her husband Rick for 15 years.  Barbara loved camping, especially at Chamberlain Lake Campground, also enjoyed fishing, Karate and spending time with her family.      She leaves her husband of 33 years, Ricky K. Sluder, Sr., her children, Ricky K. Sluder, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Orange, Stevie Sluder and his wife Heather of Greenfield, Joseph Sluder and his wife Elise of Wendell and Laurie Anne Sluder of Orange; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Connor, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bevard, NC, Mark Connor and his wife Anita of Paris, TN, Dennis Connor, Sr. and his wife Wendy of St. Augustine, FL;  two sisters, Georgia Allen of Warwick and Debra Colon Rodrigues and her husband Louis of Elizabethton, TN.  She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.      Calling hours will be Monday, August 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.  at  the funeral home.  Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol is directing arrangements.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation in Barbara’s name be made to: American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701-9376.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
