Barbara Ann (Laitinen) Laitinen

Barbara A. Laitinen Athol – Barbara Ann Laitinen, 71, of Daniel Shays Highway, died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at her home.      Barbara was born in Gardner, MA, January 17, 1944, the daughter of Armas and Elna (Erickson) Laitinen.  She grew up in Baldwinville, graduating from Narragansett Regional High School in 1962.  Barbara served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until her retirement in 1983 has a recruiter with a rank as Master Sergeant at which time she moved to New York State and since 2004 has resided in Athol.  She enjoyed fishing and traveling.      She leaves her sister, Gail Babineau and her husband Laurie of Athol and a brother, Richard Laitinen of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.        Services with Military Honors will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon with the Rev.
