BARBARA A. (ASHLEY) LOVERRO
ATHOL- Barbara A. (Ashley) Loverro, 78, of 144 Lakewood Drive, was stricken ill and died Friday, May 24, 2002 at home. Her husband of 46 years, Phillip J. Loverro died in 1996. She leaves a daughter, Bonnie L. Wozniak and her husband, Paul of Pepperell; two grandsons, Scott Rossi and his wife Tracy of Methuen, and Jason Rossi and his wife Amy of Litchfield, NH; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Rossi, Caitlyn Rossi, and Madison Rossi; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Donald Ashley and Harold Ashley.
She was born in Bridgewater, MA, April 21, 1924, daughter of Harold and Ethel (Howland) Ashley, and was raised in Orange, MA. She graduated from Orange High School with the class of 1942. She had resided in Athol the past 53 years.
Mrs. Loverro had worked as a waitress in Orange and was employed at the L. S. Starrett Company several years ago. She was a member of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church. An avid bowler, she had belonged to bowling leagues in the area, and had won many trophies. She enjoyed going to yard sales and golf, and was a member of the Ellinwood Country Club. She and her husband had wintered in Florida for many years. An animal lover, she especially loved her cat, Katie.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street. Rev. Mark Bariloni, pastor of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
