Barbara F. (Roberts) Torchia

ATHOL - Barbara F. (Roberts) Torchia, 85 of 528 Vine St., Athol, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Buckley Nursing Home, Greenfield. She was born in Chelsea, on May 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Stanely and the late Elizabeth (O'Brien) Roberts. Barbara moved to Athol when she was five years old and has been a lifelong resident.  She worked as a nurse’s aide at Athol Memorial Hospital as well as working at L.S. Starrett Company and Wal-Mart. She loved cats and was always knitting and crocheting.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves one daughter: Linda Lefsyk and her husband William of Athol; two sons: Joseph Torchia and his wife Carol of Orange, Gregory Torchia and his fiancé Cynthia of Athol; one sister: Elizabeth Peterson of Athol; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers:  Stanley Roberts and Robert Roberts. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
