GARDNER- Barry J. “Moose” Landry, age 65, of Gardner, died Monday, May 11, 2015 in UMass Memorial Medical Center due to an ongoing battle with heart disease and other medical issues.
Barry was born on February 7, 1950, in Fitchburg, son of the late Albert and Caroline (Campbell) Landry. Barry was a machinist and worked at Digital, Burton Tool, Mar Lee, and several other machine shops in the Fitchburg/Leominster area. He was very precise in everything he did and always “took pride in his work.” He always worked as much as physically possible and put in many extra hours which led to him being able to build and design two beautiful homes for his family. Even as his health declined and he could no longer work, Barry was always volunteering his time and helping others. In recent years and up until his final days he spent a lot of time at his sons work, Wyson Trucking in Westminster, where he volunteered to do odd jobs and mainly enjoyed the company of those who worked there. Barry also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Barry was predeceased by his mother March 18, 2015, his father in 2001, and his brother, Robert Landry in the year 2000. He is survived by his son, Chad Landry of Gardner; his daughter, Cara Landry of Gardner; two grandchildren, Cole Landry and Brooke Boucher; his sister, Bonnie Hickey and her husband Jim Dellechiaie of Leominster; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Barry’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at the West End Beagle Club, 110 Clark St. in Gardner from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. Barry’s family encourages those who join us on this day to bring any memorabilia (pictures, stories, memories, etc.) of Barry that you have.
