WESTMINSTER - Benjamin J. Lirette, 83 of 5 Carpenter Lane, Westminster, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner. He was born in Canada on September 13, 1925, the son of the late Bave and the late Zelica (LeBLanc) Lirette. Mr. Lirette grew up in Canada and moved to this area when he was 25 years old. He lived in Westminster for 14 years coming from Leominster. He worked as an assembler for the Digital Equipment Company for 15 years and was also a carpenter for several local contractors. He enjoyed woodworking, playing his guitar and accordion. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Alice (LeBlanc) Lirette; one daughter, Jeannette Boudreau and her husband Emile of Westminster; one son, Norman Lirette of Westbury, NY; six grandchildren, John Boudreau and James Boudreau of Gardner, Joey Boudreau of Douglas, Jesse DeMaio and Johny DeMaio of NY, Terri Pimental of NH; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Duffy and Anita Cormier of Canada; one brother, Clifford Lirette of Canada and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Louise DeMaio; by one sister, Eva Pepin and by two brothers, Gerald Lirette and Walter Lirette. Calling hours will be held Thursday December 18 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, MA. A service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
