ATHOL - Bente K. (Møller) Jelley, 71, of 168 Drury Avenue, Athol, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in the Athol Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on May 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Axel and the late Inger (Oksborg) Møller. Bente was raised and educated in Copenhagen, Denmark and moved to the United States in 1959 and became a United States Citizen. She resided in many places including Connecticut, Washington, Louisiana and New York until moving to Athol in 1985. While in Denmark, Bente worked as a hairdresser and had been a homemaker for the past several years. She was of Lutheran faith and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for the Eastern Star Home in Orange for many years until its closing and was appointed Deputy Grand Marshall in 2001. Bente enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, cooking, gardening and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her husband of fifty-three years, Ronald L. Jelley; two daughters, Cheryl Jelley and Elisabeth Jelley both of Athol; one brother, Flemming Møller of Denmark; one granddaughter, Dawn Wirth and her husband Steve of Orange; two nieces, Tilla Møller and Chanette Oksborg, both of Denmark; one nephew, Peter Oksborg of Denmark; several cousins to include Bjarne Oksborg, Jane Oksborg, and Leif Pedersen of Denmark; several grandnieces and grandnephews in Denmark, and many close friends around the world. She was predeceased by her sister, Mona Oksborg and her great-granddaughter, Kirsten Dawn Wirth. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon will be private.
