Bettidene A. (Matthews) (Turner) Carlson

Bettidene A. (Matthews) (Turner) Carlson, 93, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare. Bettidene was born in Livermoore Falls, Maine on October 16, 1927, daughter of the late Ernest B. Matthews and Della (Farrington) Matthews. She graduated with Athol High School class of 1946. She worked for 18 years as a nurse’s aide for Athol Hospital retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church and organized Athol Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family but especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her dogs and cat. She is survived by her two sons, William M. Turner and his wife Maureen of Tallahassee, Florida, Thomas Turner and wife, Dawna of Athol; one daughter, Sue Ellen Gelinas and husband Gordon of Athol; one sister, Donnie M. Libby of Newport, Vermont; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, William F. Carlson in 1997; daughter, Linda Hutchison; brother, William E. Matthews; sister, Barbara Hickey; one grandchild; and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00am, Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial will follow at South Cemetery in Orange. A calling hour will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home.
