Bettyrose M. Nichols

ORANGE - Bettyrose M. (Powell) Nichols, 66 of 50 Red Brook Lane died Thursday, May 25, 2006 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She was born in Athol on August 31, 1939, the daughter of the late Arthur Powell Sr. and the late Nina (Ballard) Britt. She worked many jobs, including the Orange Shoe Shop, the Athol Shoe Shop and for many years at the Fleetwood Nursing Home. Betty lived in Athol most of her life and spent ten years in North Carolina before moving back to Athol in 2002. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed going to Foxwoods and spending time with her friends at Red Brook Lane Village. She leaves two daughters; Barbara A. LaRoche of Athol and Cheryl Nichols of Lexington, NC, six sons; Richard Nichols of Athol, Albert Nichols, Jr. of Dennisport, John Nichols of Denton, NC, William Nichols of Salisbury, NC, Scott Nichols of Andover, OH, and Ronald Nichols of Denton, NC, one sister; Brenda Yates of Orange, two brothers; Arthur Powell, Jr. of Worcester and Bruce Powell of Orange, a half sister; Betty Robinson of Orange, a half brother; Clarence (Sonny) Britt of Orange, twelve grandchildren and three great grandsons. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Red Brook Lane Community Center on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. There will be no calling hours or services at her request.
