Beverly Goodfield

ATHOL -Beverly (Ellis) Goodfield, 92, of Athol passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare with her family by her side. Born on May 12, 1918, she was the daughter of Merrill and Effie (Finney) Ellis. She attended schools in Springfield and Athol. She is the beloved wife of Martin Howard Goodfield, devoted to each other for over seventy-five years. Beverly was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, where she worked as the church secretary for many years. She also was also a member of the Catholic Women's League, a Friendly Visitor for the Diocese of Worcester, and a volunteer visitor at Quabbin Valley Healthcare. She lived by the Golden Rule, devoting her time caring for others. She touched many lives and all that knew her, Beverly's warmth and compassion will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Goodfield, who passed away in 1985; by her brother, Raymond Ellis; and by a sister, Vaida Quaranto. In addition to her husband Howard Goodfield, she leaves behind two sons, Dr. Peter Goodfield and his wife Nona of Culpeper, VA, Dr. David Goodfield and his wife Pat of Arvada, CO; two daughters, Mary Griffith and her husband Phillip of Orange, Anne Lewis and her husband Darrell of St. Simons Island, GA. She also leaves her sister, Dorothy Lincoln of Middleberry, VT; nine grandchildren, Marina Oliver of Texas, Gabriella Goodfield of Italy, Jennifer Shultz, Kathye Marshall, Terri Dickerson all of VA, Daniel and Andrew Goodfield of Colorado, Abigail Griffith of Orange, Jeffrey Losius of Greensboro, NC; and eight great grandchildren. A private burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
