BEVERLY J. (PIERSON) MASELLI ATHOL-Beverly J. (Pierson) Maselli, 66, of 200 Wellington Street, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 in Athol Memorial Hospital, following an illness. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Robert A. Maselli; three children, Cynthia A. Chicoine and her husband Alan of Athol; Christopher A. Maselli and his wife Bethany of Wendell; and Colleen A. Caranfa and her husband Dominick of Yorktown Heights, New York; six grandchildren: Lauryssa, Gianna, Olivia, Alexa, Emily, and Adam; three sisters, Jean Marshall of Phillipston, Nancy Goodhart of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Verna Brown of Lunenburg; her mother-in-law, Sophie Maselli of Athol, and several nieces and nephews. A brother Robert Pierson, predeceased her. She was born in Halifax, Vermont, Feb. 5, 1936, a daughter of Paul and Alice (Saunders) Pierson, and was a lifelong resident of town. She graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1954 and from Becker Junior College, Worcester in 1956. Mrs. Maselli had worked several years as a medical secretary for Dr. Charles Pierson, and later for Dr. Robert Knight, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, the Holy Family League of Charity, and the Quabbin Snowmen. At one time, she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was active with Bluebirds. She was one of the first area women to parachute from the Orange Airport and was featured in Life Magazine. A devoted mother, grandmother and wife, she enjoyed arts and crafts, ceramics and gardening. She also loved going to the beach, doing crossword puzzles and the Boston Red Sox. The funeral will be held Tuesday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701; or to the Heidi Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Athol High School SADD Chapter, attn Mr. David Mills, 2363 Main Street, Athol; or to Massachusetts Spina Bifida Association, c/o Cheryl Smith, P.O.
