ATHOL- Bruce A. Bailey, Sr., of Athol, died Friday, March 20, in Heywood Hospital, after an illness.
He was born October 6, 1937, in Gardner, son of the late Stanwood R. Bailey, Sr. and Charlotte W. (Day) Bailey.
A man of many talents, he was truly a Jack of all trades. He was skilled in construction, masonry, car repair, wood carving, and sketching. He was a kind and gentle man and a loving father always taking time to teach his children many of his skills.
He is survived by three daughters, Marlene Pelletier and her husband Darryn of Athol, Lisa E. Bailey and her fiancé William P. St. Onge of Athol, Penny Bailey of Athol; four sons, Russell Bailey Sr. of Athol, Kenneth Bailey and his wife Debbie of Athol, Thomas Bailey of Orange, Bruce Bailey, Jr. of Athol; one brother, Stanwood R. Bailey, Jr.; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Karen L. (White) Bailey in 2014, his first wife, Corinne Bailey in 1970, his daughter, Jodie Langlois Putnam, his brother, Herbert Bailey, and his sister, Christine Bailey Davidson.
At his request there are no calling hours or services. Private burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A celebration of life was Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Athol American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bruce’s name to the Heywood Hospital Philanthropy Office, 242 Green Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
