ATHOL - Burl B. Brockney, Jr., age 71, of Athol died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner.
Mr. Brockney was born April 6, 1942 in Fitchburg, the son of the late Burl B. Brockney and the late Mary Louise (Gilbert) Hines.
Burl grew up in Royalston and Athol and attended schools in Royalston.
Mr. Brockney worked as a Foreman for Duall Plastics until his retirement. He also worked as a gas station attendant and taught classes on small engine repair. He also enjoyed bartending, cleaning, and just helping out at the Corner Pub where he met many amazing friends.
He was past president of the 25 Sportsman Club and enjoyed shooting pool and racing cars at Monadnock Speedway, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by four daughters, Becky Isakson and her husband Shannon of Athol, April Anderson and her husband Timothy of Athol, Melinda Manjourea of Bangor, ME, Tamra Tuttle of Bangor, ME; five brothers, Raymond Brockney, Walter Brockney, Jack Brockney, Leon Noel, Richard Noel; a sister Delores Holland ; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kenny Noel, and by three sisters, Edwina Griffith, Ruthie Gagnon, and Eva.
A celebration of life will be held at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.
