C. Steven Deyo

C. Steven Deyo Florida – C. Steven Deyo, 65, of Hawthorne died Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida following an illness.      Steve was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, April 8, 1946, the son of Herbert G. and May E. (Scollen) Deyo.  He grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School in 1964.  He then entered the tool maker’s apprenticeship program at the former Union Twist Drill.   He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.   Following his return from the Air Force he moved to Florida where he lived for many years, later moving to North Carolina for a few years, returning to Florida in 1999.      Steve worked for a pharmaceutical company in Florida for several years. After moving to North Carolina he worked for Stewart and Associates Manufacturing Company where he was a machinist working on special projects.   After returning to Florida he worked for Precision Tool and Engineering Company in Gainesville.   He was a member of a Masonic Lodge in Florida, loved playing golf, fishing, watching hockey and football and spending time with his family and friends.      His wife of 27 years, Delores “Dee” (Boutelle) Deyo died in 1998.  He leaves his mother, May Deyo of Orange, his nieces and nephews, Timothy Deyo and his wife Lisa of Attleboro, Theresa Balotin and her husband Eric of Jamesville, NY, Tracey and Thomas Deyo, both of Orange; five grand nieces and nephews, Stephen and Sarah Deyo, Allie, Andrew and Sydney Balotin. He also leaves several cousins including Gary Deyo and his wife Judy of Athol.  Steve was predeceased by his father, Herbert G. Deyo and his brother, Raymond W. Deyo.      A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange with the Rev. Fr. Howard McCormick, former pastor and family friend officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at South Cemetery and in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Steve’s name to: the Orange American Legion Post # 172, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 172, Orange, MA  01364.
