It is with a twinkle in our eyes and a hearty chuckle that we bid farewell to our beloved Carl Schofield, known affectionately by his friends and family as Joe, and by his doting mother as Toe Joe. Born on January 26, 1950, in Winchendon, MA, Carl was a compassionate soul who brought joy and warmth to those around him with his generous nature and spirited personality. His witty tales, often as accurate as the size of the fish he claimed to have caught, brought laughter to all who had the pleasure of hearing them.
Carl was a man of many talents and passions. As a proud Vietnam Veteran, he showed immense courage and resilience. After serving his country, he worked diligently in the field of refrigeration and coolant, bringing the same dedication to his work as he did to his personal life. An avid hunter and fisherman, Carl was a member of the Franco-American Club, where he loved to share his adventures. His love for the great outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." This was certainly true for Carl who managed to combine his love for work and leisure so seamlessly.
Carl's journey took him from his childhood in Ashuelot New Hampshire, to Marion Ohio, where he lived with his beloved wife Carleen. After her passing, Carl moved back to Massachusetts, spending his remaining years surrounded by his local family. Carl is survived by his sisters, Ruby Watts and Loretta Armentrout; daughter, Wendy Dorval; son-in-law, Edward Sr; and grandsons, Edward Jr and Nicholas Dorval, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Schofield and Mary Clow; wife, Carleen Schofield; and brothers, Michael and Thomas Schofield.
In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Carl's life was a testament to this truth. His compassionate nature, generous spirit, and witty sense of humor have left an indelible mark on our hearts. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of our beloved Carl on the memorial page, to keep his spirit alive in our hearts and minds.
