PHILLIPSTON - Carol E. (White) Bassett, 78 of 95 Baldwinville Rd., Phillipston, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at home.
She was born in Ware, on May 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Phillip and the late Dorothy (Darling) White.
Carol grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. She was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. She has resided in Phillipston for 55 years.
She worked at the Fernald School, Red Apple Farm and Adams Printing. She was a member of the Phillipston Congregational Church, where she chaired the "Rummage Sale" at the Church Bazaar. She enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening. She supplied the town with night crawlers.
She leaves two sons: Todd M. Bassett of Phillipston, Stephen M. Bassett and his wife Marjorie of Royalston; three daughters: Susan M. Pitts of Athol, Amy M. Bassett of Cape Cod, Jessica M. Bassett of Phillipston; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister: Barbara Wrest of VA, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward L. Bassett Jr. who died in 1997 and one sister Hillary White.
A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
No calling hours are scheduled.
