Carol (Carey) Durkee

ATHOL - Carol (Chevalier) (Carey) Durkee, 76, of Athol died Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home. She was born January 30, 1942 the daughter of Wilfred and Caroline (Tedford) Chevalier. She grew up in the Athol-Orange area and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in Vermont in 1960. Carol work as a CNA for Baldwinville Nursing Home for 22 years she also worked at the Eastern Star Home in Orange for eight years. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She is survived by one daughter, Glenda Cohen and her husband Andy of Framingham; two sons, David Carey and his companion Cathy Strom of Athol, Bruce Carey of Arizona; three brothers, Ray Chevalier of Petersham, Wilfred Chevalier of Athol, Bob Chevalier of Virginia; four sisters Joan Cleveland of Indiana, Winifred Chevalier of Vermont, C–Anne Chevalier of Tennessee, Linda Durkee of Florida; five grandchildren Kelly Cohen, Kimberly Cohen, Katherine Cohen, Parker Carey, Ashlyn Carey; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gerald Carey, her second husband of 10 years Richard D. Durkee , her daughter Sheila Carey, a sister, Arlene Stroup and by one grandchild Cory Navarrette. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the activities room at Baldwinville Nursing Home 50 Hospital Road Baldwinville. Burial in Highland Cemetery Athol will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made in her memory to Baldwinville Nursing Home – Activities Department, 50 Hospital Rd.
