ATHOL - Casimir Pinigis, 89, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2013. Born on August 21, 1923 in Athol, Massachusetts, the son of Kazimieras and Salome (Kvedaravicius) Pinigis, Casimir was a life-long resident of Athol. He was valedictorian and class president of the Athol High School Class of 1941. In 1941, Casimir started working for Union Twist Drill and continued working for the company through their transition to Union Butterfield in 1978. In 2003 he was awarded a 50-year pin by SME (originally the American Society of Tool Engineers.) Following retirement from UTD, Casimir was a map seller for the United States Geological Society and traveled throughout New England visiting his many clients. Casimir was on the Board of Trustees of the Athol Hospital for over 50 years. He was a volunteer at the Athol Historical Society and a Friend of Athol Library. He was a member of the Knights of Lithuania and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Athol. “Charlie” was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed creativity and a good challenge; he could find a solution to any problem. Casimir is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (Gulezian) Pinigis of Athol and his five children, Marianne Duncanson and husband Andrew of Houston, TX, Sally Miller and husband Christopher of Woodstock, VT, Peter Pinigis and wife Mary of Orlando, FL, Paul Pinigis and wife Elise of Austin, TX and Margaret Nunnelly and husband John of Amherst, MA, as well as his ten grandchildren, Ian Duncanson, Claire Clarke, Katherine, Elizabeth and Margaret Miller, Neil and Evan Pinigis, Emily Pinigis, and David and Laura Nunnelly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main Street, Athol.   Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Athol High School Scholarship Association and can be mailed to P.O.
