BALDWINVILLE – Catherine “Kay” (Eickhoff) Aho, 90 of 79 Bridge Street, Baldwinville, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 in The Highlands, Fitchburg.
She was born in Albany, NY, on December 29, 1926, the daughter of the late George Windham Eickhoff and the late Edith May (Broadhurst) Eickhoff.
Kay was a remarkable woman. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Kay always took an interest in everyone around her and made them feel important with genuine enthusiasm in hearing about their families, kids and life stories. Kay worked for the Gardner Head Start program for 22 years, retiring as a Head Teacher. She also touched the lives of many young girls and fellow staff members during her 20 years as a residential counselor at the Protestant Youth Center in Baldwinville. Kay was spirited, feisty and strong. She was a lifelong avid reader with a love of history and spent many happy hours in the Levi Heywood Memorial Library.
Catherine is survived by her son, Wayne Aho of Swanzey, NH; two daughters, Debbi Bolta of Savannah, GA, Cindy (Pelletier) Aho-Young of Hollis, NH; a sister, Virginia Staiano of Syracuse, NY; a brother, John McCarthy of Albany, NY; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
