ORANGE - Catherine L. “Kay” (Lagimoniere) Kaczmarczyk, 72 of Orange, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Boston Medical Center, Boston.
Kay was born in Waltham, MA on July 13th, 1948 to Wilfred & Gertrude (Chiasson) Lagimoniere.
She leaves behind her husband Tom Kaczmarczyk; three daughters: Leann Stone and her husband Joshua, Tracy Muzzy & Kristen Muzzy; three sisters: Kathy Fay, Ann Wessel, Angel Lagimoniere ; one brother: Bryan Lagimoniere and his wife Nancy; eight grandchildren: Jessica Holloway, Corey Holloway, Jack Robinson Jr., Miranda Chiasson, Devin Maxwell, Jenavieve Bailey, Zander Bailey & Skye Bates; seven great grandchildren.
She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1966. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church in Petersham and St. Francis Church in Athol. Kay was a former President of the OLI Catholic Women’s League, and a Eucharist Minister to the sick. She served at the OLI Parish fair, was a Recycle truck team leader, volunteered at the William J O’Brien dinners, and was a team member of RCIA and youth team advisor. She was also a Life member of Girl Scouts USA as leader, asst leader, cookie chair, and day camp leader. Kay was instrumental with a group of women in forming Girl Scouts in Athol. She was a Town Registrar, past treasure of Athol Junior women’s club, CCD teacher of grades 3-5 at OLI and a Pro-Life Member. She was the first woman to score a 400 game at Lucky Lanes. Former member of: Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Athol Women’s Club, Franco-American Club, Elks Club, Orange Gun club and the Athol Gun club.
Kay worked at LS Starrett Company for 31 years, and was a member of the 25 year club. She also worked as a CNA at long term care facilities for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1001 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack funeral home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in Kay's memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church 101 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.
