Catherine G. Meagher

HUBBARDSTON - Catherine G. (Ryan) Meagher, 86, of 38 Morgan Road, Hubbardston, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner. Catherine was born in Gardner on May 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Marce and the late Lucy (Silverberg) Ryan. She was raised in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1941. She worked as a legal secretary in Gardner until her marriage. Mrs. Meagher has been a resident of Hubbardston for over fifty-eight years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and playing cards and croquet. Catherine leaves her husband of sixty-nine years, Fred C. Meagher; three daughters, Katherine White and her husband George of East Templeton, Deb Meagher of Gardner, Jo-Ann Meagher of Gardner; two sons, Steve Meagher of Petersham, Alan Meagher of Hubbardston; four grandchildren, David White of Otter River, Kathy Seavey and her husband Scott of NH, Ellis Cole, Jr. and his wife Sherri Ann of Fitchburg, Eric Cole of Leominster; five great grandchildren, Meaghan White of KY, Alan Joseph Seavey of NH, Shannon Seavey of NH, Liam Cole of Fitchburg, Laci Cole of Fitchburg; and one great-great grandchild, Connor White of KY. She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Ryan; and by two sisters, Rita Ryan and Celia Meagher. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Hubbardston, will be held in the spring. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Hubbardston Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 490, Hubbardston, MA 01452.
