ATHOL – Catherine A. (Reid) Willard, 80, of Athol passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Quabbin Valley Health Care, Athol.
Kay was born on May 18, 1936 in Montague to the late George and Josephine (Glasheen) Reid, Sr.
She was a lifelong resident of Athol graduating from Athol High School in 1954.
Kay was predeceased by her husband of 44 years Arlan D. Willard, and her sister Roberta Swan.
Kay leaves her companion Charles Morrow of Athol. Sons, Matthew of Boston, Andrew and his wife Susan of Cohasset, and Robert of Athol. Daughters, Elizabeth McKinnon and her husband Michael of Boston, Mary Hosman and her husband Eric of Hamilton. Sister Joy Taintor and her husband Russell of East Templeton. Brother George Reid Jr. and his wife Joan of Orange. Kay was the beloved grandmother to Luke & Claire McKinnon, Tatum & Tess Hosman, and Devin & Erin Willard. She also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews.
She worked as a secretary for Judge C. Edward Rowe and for Our Lady Immaculate Church, retiring in 1997. A communicant of Our Lady, she was a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in all aspects of Parish life. Kay was a founding member of the Our Lady’s Church Fair serving as chairperson for many years. Kay was also a member of the Athol Women’s Club, and volunteered at the Athol Memorial Hospital. She spent her retirement years quilting, gardening and being a devoted Grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning May 13, 2017 at ten o’clock in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial following in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 between the hours of 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Quabbin Valley Health Care, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Athol Memorial Hospital, Gardner VNA, Brookhaven Hospice and Quabbin Valley Health Care for the gracious and compassionate care provided to Kay.
